The Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has assured the family of the late, Rt. Hon. Tonye Wille Harry, the former Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly of a befitting state burial.
Gov. Amaechi gave the assurance when he led other members of his cabinet on a condolence visit to the family of the former legislator in Port Harcourt.
The Chief Executive Officer of the state who assured the family of his administration assistance in whatever would be required for the burial, expressed shocked of the death of the former lawmaker describing him as a “distinguished lawmaker” who has contributed immensely in the legislative business of the state.
According to him, “I received the news of the death of Rt. Hon. Tonye Harry with shock”.
The late lawmaker condition of health was getting better in the state hospital before they took him to abroad for treatment when he gave up the ghost on his way to the hospital abroad describing his demise as a great loss to the state and entire nation.
In a related development the speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Otelemaba Dan Amachree on behalf of the State Legislators has expressed deep shock and sadness over the sudden death of his predecessor and member representing Degema Constituency.
The speaker described the late Harry as one of the pillars of support in the 7th Assembly, adding that Rivers Sate has lost one of its most experienced legislators.
Rt. Hon. Amachree prayed that God would give the state, his family and Kalabari ethnic nationality, the fortitude to bear the irreparable loss.
Hon. Tonye Harry until his demise was a member of the Rivers State House of Assembly representing Degema constituency.###
