Amaechi’s S/Court Victory: I Have Been Vindicated – Cleric

Elderstatesman and former Special Adviser to Governor Peter Odili on Religious Affairs, Archbishop, Dr. (Amb.) Friday Osaro Nwator JP, OON, say the recent Supreme Court verdict that dismissed the suit filed by the former governor, Celestine Omehia against the incumbent, Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has vindicated him.

He sated this in a brief chat with journalists in his office shortly after the Supreme Court delivered the ruling on Monday, 11th November, 2013.

Expressing satisfaction with the ruling, the man of God said he has earlier called on those that contested the governorship election with Governor Amaechi in 2011 and later sued him to court to withdraw their suits and leave him alone to continue his good work as the emergence of another governor would amount to abandonment of the projects and a waste of state resources as well as tax payer’s money.

“I told them to leave Governor Amaechi alone to continue with developmental projects because if another governor comes he will abandon the projects and start his own new projects and it is Rivers State that will lose.

“However, this call of mine was ignored. But the Supreme Court judgment today has vindicated that call I made,” Nwator said.

The clergyman appealed to those fighting Governor Amaechi to sheathe their swords, embrace peace and allow the incumbent to complete his tenure.

“I appeal to the youths and those using them to fight Governor Amaechi to lay down their arms and embrace peace. We can’t all be governors at the same time. Moreover, if you disturb the incumbent, when its your own turn other people will disturb you. So let us allow him to continue his work and complete his tenure; it is better for us to allow peace to reign,” he said. ###
