I Remain Chairman of Rivers NYCN – Comrade Ibanichuka

Comrade Kingsley Ibanichuka has declared that he remains the chairman of the Rivers State chapter of the National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN). The Rivers NYCN under Ibanichuka has recently instituted a legal suit against one Mr. Chijioke Ihunwo,  Sukubo Sara-Igbe and others for attempting to usurp power from him.

In a Suit No. OHC/55/2013, filed before Okechi High Court, Comrade Ibanichuka through his counsel, C.P. Agbaeze Esq. recalled that “he and his executives were elected on the 26th day of July, 2012, alleging that nobody has ever opposed their emergence, but enjoy complete support and loyalty from members.”

Comrade Ibanichuka further alleged that his executive council has not involved in any financial misappropriation before.

He, however, told the court that in May, 2013 one Comrade Ibrahim Shendam (5th Defendant) presented him to them to be recognized as the National President of the NYCN, “and we told him, we cannot recognize him because our National officers are never imposed on us and that the said officers must have been subjected to elections by the national body of NYCN”.

The counsel submitted that because of the refusal of his clients to recognize Comrade Shendam led to their purported dissolution.

He condemned a situation whereby a Kangaroo election was organized and declared a none council member, one Sukubo Sara-Igbe as a chairman, “Knowing fully well that our tenure has not yet elapsed and that for anybody to attempt removing us, it has to be in accordance with the association’s constitution”.

Agbaeze Esq said that the purported dissolution of Comrade Kingsley Ibanichuka led executives was illegal and unconstitutional.

He prayed the court to declare that Comrade Ibanichuka led executive remains the lawful state executive officers of NYCN, “until the expiration of their tenure”.

The counsel further pleaded with the court to restrain Mr. Sukubo Sara-Igbe’s exco from parading themselves and also order them to evacuate the office of the Rivers NCYN.

Comrade Ibanichuka demanded a total sum of one million naira from the factional exco headed by Sukubo Sara-Igbe for destruction of NCYN office complex and other office equipment. ####
