Pyagbara Plays In Eagles Colour Against Side

Christian Pyagbara of former Gokana United, played against his former side, Gokana United in the Keshi tutored home based Eagles at Gokana central stadium for the first time.

The friendly match was high profile preparatory build up match to warm the home based Eagles to feature for the CHAN competition in South Africa later in January 2014.

The match was also used in the commissioning of the Gokana 8,000 capacity stadium complex embarked upon by the Gokana local government.

Gokana United is campaigning in the national amateur division 1 league in Nigeria, and was lucky to have a stadium for themselves for all their home matches, with the stadium completed and commissioned on the 28th of December, 2013.

Home based eagles opened scoring in the 4th minute of the first half through Barnabas Imenger while Wosu Daniel of Gokana United replied with an equalizer in the 8th minute of the first half of the encounter.

The match ended with Christian Pyagbara struggling to scored his former side that brought him to limelight but could not as his former teammates checkmate him from the possibility of scoring his former side.

Final results reads home based Eagles 1 Gokana United 1, under the watchful eyes of Keshi.

Speaking to the press shortly after the match, Keshi said, though, his home based eagles was deplete he said the players played well but attributed the score line to the pitch.

He also said, while he commended his boys for not losing to the Gokana side because they are a goodside, his boys will be much more better after he might close up loose ends in the team, praying Nigerians to expect a home based Eagles that will make them proud come January at South Africa.

Keshi also spoke of the absent of notable players like Sunday Mba and Kelechi Iheanacho who left the team for greener pasture in foreign clubs, saying their exit has rather opened up another opportunity to other talented soccer stars of Nigeria origin.

The technical adviser of Gokana United, Patrick Awajah was impressed with his boys performance, saying the Gokana United side that tackled the home based eagles are new players he puts together just in four days because of the eagles match.

Coach Awajaih revealed that he was the coach that took ABS football club to premiership. And had also coached Mobil Pagasius of Calabar.

He promised Gokana and Rivers people that he will take Gokana United to prologue hence he needs the support of all and sundry. ###
