Sharks Record First Home Win

OGUNBOTESharks of Port Harcourt on 16th of March recorded her first home win against Lobi stars at Sharks stadium.

Sharks only and winning goal came in the 15th minute of the first half through Ifeanyi Inyam, spotting jersey No. 12. after that goal both sides struggled to gain supremacy over the other to no avail, ending the first half Sharks 1  Lobi stars  0.

The second half started on a more tense note as supporters of Sharks increased their drumming as to motivate Sharks to increase the goal tally. Lobi stars on their part become more dangerous at Sharks defence. It was an interesting encounter that saw both sides exhibited good football.

If not for the centre referee, Lobi stars might have gotten an equalizer courtesy of penalty which was not awarded to Lobi stars, after an attacker was hacked down by Sharks defender in the 18 yard box. Shark intensified it effort to score but the resilient defence of Lobi Stars kept Sharks at bay.

Refereeing was partially average and if you asked the fans according to the respond we gathered is not too good for the league.

Speaking to sports journalists shortly after the match, coach of Sharks said his side has not worked enough, Sharks missed lots of scoring chances and was lucky to have a goal from the 15th minute through Jersy No. 12, Ifeanyi Inyam.

Ogeyi Evans, Coach of Lobi Stars, said, it was a fair game, but lamented against the centre referee not awarding that penalty to his side. He equally said, both side played well leaving the lucky said which took it chance to claim the day.

He stressed the need for sports journalists to be more meticulous in their reports as to develop the league. ###
