Abandoned Projects: Bille Youths Protest

BILLE PROTESTThe youths of Bille kingdom in the Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State, last week staged a peaceful protest against what they called, “series of abandoned projects” in the kingdom.

The protesting youths were numbering over two hundred, marching on the streets chanting songs such as: “All we are saying give us water”.

The protesters also carried placards with different inscriptions such as “We need water to drink in the Bille kingdom, “Please give us water and also complete our abandoned projects” amongst others.

The protest coincided with the day, some police officers arrived Bille to find out the series of abandoned projects in the area. The security agents visited the collapsed water project, non-functioning cold room and other abandoned projects.

It would be recalled that High Chief Bebeowuibo Jacob accused one Mr. INC Herbert for abandoning a water project contracted to him by SPDC.

When the police arrived the community, they were conducted around by a prominent High Chief in the kingdom, Bebeowuibo.

High Chief Bebe Jacob is also the Agbani-Jike 1 of Niger Delta region who has a total love for his community.

The youths of the community who spoke with our reporter condemned the way and the manner in which indigenous contractors abandon community projects awarded to them.

They advised the contractors to return to sites to complete their projects, to avoid problems and under development.

Also the leader of Ward 16 Bille PDP promised that he will continue to defend the community from the bad eggs. He called on the police to do their investigation well, lamenting that Bille is under developed because of the bad attitude of some indigenous contractors from the community. ####
