Wike Bags Chieftaincy Title In Tombia

Tombia Community in Degema Local Government Area of Rivers State last weekend hosted the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship flagbearer of Rivers State, Chief (Barr.) Nyesom Ezenwo Wike and his entourage amidst funfare.

Wike, accompanied by his running mate, Dr. (Mrs.) Ipalibo Harry Banigo, Amb. Desmond Akawo, Dr. Tammy Danagogo, Emma Okah and several others had a fill of the hospitality of Tombia people. The occasion attracted crème-de-la-crême of the society as the Civic Centre Arena almost turned to a carnival.

The PDP governorship standard bearer however, promised to address developmental issues affecting the community, adding that if voted to power he will link the community by road to Ogbakiri, carry out the sandfilling of Tombia and upgrade the oldest technical college in Rivers State, Government Technical College to a tertiary institution for the award of diploma.

He said he will work to ensure that Tombia community is given a place of pride in the scheme of things in Rivers State, stressing to also fulfill the promises he made, if voted into power.

Wike advised Tombia community to vote an-masse for President Goodluck Ebele Jonathan and PDP candidates at all levels in the coming elections, saying that the transformation policies of the President has to be accomplished and actualized.

Earlier, Tombia Council of Chiefs in her address lauded the extra-ordinary qualities of the visitor and prayed for his emergence as the next governor of Rivers State. “Your presence among us has demonstrated your qualities in governance. It is important to note that Tombia is the melting point of DELGA politics because of her concerted united efforts in bringing government in place and supporting it headlong,” parts of the address read.

The royal fathers appealed to Wike to consider linking Tombia community to the hinterland via solid road construction and bridge to Ogbakiri, sandfilling of the community which is long overdue and the upgrade of the oldest technical college in Rivers State, Government Technical College to tertiary status or degree awarding institution.

They equally called for the appointment of Tombia sons and daughters into positions of trust, saying that the community parades prominent men and women who have distinguished themselves in their chosen careers.

Wike was thereafter honoured with a Chieftaincy title of “Kurobo” by the Chiefs Council, meaning strong personality.

Speakers after speakers mounted the rostrum to give their solidarity speeches among whom is the DELGA House of Assembly candidate, Doctor Farah Dagogo who noted that Wike is already the governor of the state, adding that Wike should go and sleep as he is rest assured that over 95% votes will be casted to ensure his victory.

“Your Excellency, Tombia has resolved to massively vote for the PDP, because there is no apposition party here. We are totally committed to the victory of the PDP at all levels,” Farah stressed.

A political Chieftain in the area, Chief Ombo Benibo-Fubara, popularly called OBF or political coach” drew cheerful applause from the huge crowd with his ribcracking speech. He assured the visiting team of the community’s penchant and love for the winning and ruling party, noting that Tombia and all other communities in the LGA will poll an unimaginable votes for the PDP to secure total victory. former Information Commissioner, Ene Dateme, Chief Betterland Davies and many political stalwarts, Opinion leaders commended the visit and assured Wike of the community’s support. ###
