Drop Guber Ambition”, Ex-IYC Boss Tells Alamieyseigha, Other

Ahead of the 2016 governorship election in Bayelsa State, a former President of Ijaw Youth Council, Mr. Famous Daunemuagha, has called on the people of the state to be wary of those vying for the 2016 governorship election.

According to the youth leader, those currently eyeing the governorship seat are only interested in their personal interest rather than serving the people.

As at the last count, former Governor Diepreye Alamieyeseigha, former Managing Director, Niger Delta Development Commission, Chief Timi Alaibe, a leader of All Progressives Congress and former Governor of the state, Chief Timipre Sylva, were all said to be interested in contesting in the 2016 governorship election in the state.

Others include a former Commissioner for Health, Chief Frank Akpoebi, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Power, Mr. Godknow Igali, APC state Chairman, Mr. Tiwe Oruminighe,

and Mr. Preye Aganaba, APC senatorial candidate for Bayelsa Central.

However, Daunemuagha said on Thursday that most of those showing interest in the race were only being “opportunistic and self-serving” if they ever contested next year.

“So, the people of Bayelsa State must be wary of their deceit,” he said.

According him, the realities on ground favoured the incumbent governor, Seriake Dickson, adding that the antecedents of those reportedly in the race were “either too negative or abysmally uninspiring” to now elicit the interest of the people.

He said: “What comes to mind is the past of these characters and of course their deficit of corruption and bad leadership. Even among those who are currently serving, what have

they contributed to make life better for their kinsmen back home in Bayelsa State?

“All of them have been in one top position or the other at different times but only used their respective positions to enrich themselves and that is the critical issue they have with the good people of Bayelsa State. There is a growing political awareness among the people and they will certainly ask questions.”
