The N4bn will enable the RSIEC to conduct the forthcoming local government council’s election in the state.

According to what we gathered, despite the uproar trailing the planned conduct of the LGA polls in May 23, RSIEC said that twenty seven (27) registered political parties have indicated interest to participate.

The release of the said huge amount to the state Independent electoral Commission, its chairman, Prof. Ahiazu says there would be no going back for the conduct of the local polls.

However, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state is kicking against the May 23 polls, saying that the RSIEC lacks locus standi to conduct the election.

According to the President-general f the grassroot Development Initiative (GDI). Hon. Bright Amaehule said that the RSIEC did not follow the constitutional guidelines in the conduct of the LGA polls.

He said that the RSIEC would have issued 90 days notice to all the registered political parties, to get set for the polls, but such notice was not given.

The president general of the GDI therefore called on Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi to jettison the plan of conducting polls.

He threatened that any attempt to conduct the LGA elections, the leadership of GDI would not hesitant to seek legitimate means of stopping RSICE to organize the planned council polls. ###
