Coach Felicitates Gov. Wike

A Grass-roots football talent developer, Coach Christina Fisei has congratulated the governor of Rivers State, Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike on the Supreme Court victory, as he organizes Port Harcourt City Victory Cup, in honour of the governor, Barr. Nyesom Wike (CON).

The Okrika born-coach and manager of De-rock FC said that the development of football to global level should start from the grassroots hence the reason for the grassroots football development in Port Harcourt, adding that the international football figures states from the grassroot.

“You as a coach if you don’t want to start from the grassroot to groom or scout these players, how will you have the future stars? he asked.

Speaking to our correspondent on Monday, the coach and manager of De-Rock FC reiterated that his football club was integrated in training grassroots youths to international level, maintaining that 24 teams are taking part in the Port Harcourt City victory cup, as twelve teams have qualified in the competition.

Speaking further, coach Fisei pointed out that he had gone far and wide in Nigeria and other countries as a footballer, a coach and manager of a team, stating hat the facilities (football pitch) available at his disposal are within Borikiri (approved school complex, venue of the ongoing competition) and Eninnia High School. “I will be grateful if I am opportune to work with the Rivers State Ministry of Sports, because I am sharing the same view and vision with the ministry. I have been in the coaching and managing business for 14 years”, adding that as a footballer, he had played in France for 3 seasons, 3 seasons in Sudan and had played for Bussdor FC before leaving Nigeria.

According to him, the reasons for leaving his former teams in Port Harcourt and Abroad were because he had the vision of becoming a grassroot coach and manager adding that he needed the state government to assist his team, financially and materially, having been exposed to international football facilities. He further claimed that he had coached Kingsley Sokari, a former player of Enyimba, Benabi Johnson, a player of Abia Warriors among others.

Coach Fisei used this medium to invite the governor of Rivers State as a special guest of honour and all lovers of football to witness the finals of the Port Harcourt City victory cup at Port Harcourt Approved School complex, Nembe Street Borikiri. ###
