Monarch Commends Security Agencies For Peaceful Polls In His Domain

The Paramount River of Okporo/Okwurusi in Obio/Akpor LGA Kingdom HRM Eze Morgan Nwenendi Amadi (KSC) JP has commended security agencies for ensuring a smooth and peaceful polls in his domain.

He made the commendation during a chat with newsmen shortly after casting his vote during the Saturday’s, March 19, 2016, National and State House of Assembly re-run election in the State.

The monarch used the opportunity to commend also thanked all his subjects for conducting themselves peacefully and orderly manner throughout the exercise and urged them to sustain the trend.

Eze Morgan stressed that the voters apathy recorded during the exercise was caused by the earlier threats to flood the State with armed military personnel to supervise the election.

He said, he left his house early to his polling unit hoping to exercise his enfranchise on time and go back but only to spend hours waiting for the arrival of election materials which came late in the afternoon, noting that despite the late arrival of the materials the voting was peaceful and smooth.

While urging [NEC to work on it logistic in subsequent elections he noted that there is no where all over the world were elections are hundred percent perfect.

On whether he noticed fake or photo copied election materials in his unit the paramount ruler said, he was in the polling unit to perform his constitutional right of voting and not to monitor whether election materials were fake or not.

Eze Morgan advised the contestants and their supporters to accept the outcome of the result of the election in good faith in order to forge ahead like other states, adding that whoever loses today has a chance to win next time.

He further urged them to always keep the interest of the state at heart in whatever they say or do stressing that the collective interest of the state is greater than an individual ambition.

The Monarch further said as a way of supporting and encouraging the process all the royal fathers in the State had met before the election and agreed to hand over trouble makers in their domains to security agents for appropriate sanctions.

He, therefore warned youths across the state not to allow themselves be used by selfish and greedy politicians to cause violence, insisting that violence does not pay but retards the progress of a society.###
