Rivers: Unionist wants Wike Appoints SA On Labour Matters

The National Vice President of Amalgamated Union of Public Corporation Civil Service Technical and Recreational Service Employees, (AUPCTRE), Comrade Evans Olunwa has appealed to the Rivers State Governor. Chief Barr. Nyesom Wike to appoint Special Adviser on Labour Matters to enable labour gets access to the Governor to discuss labour related issues.

Comrade Olunwa who was the former Vice Chairman of NLC in the state made the appeal while speaking with journalists in Port Harcourt on Wednesday, saying that the appointment will further bring harmonious working relationship between labour and government.

He further appealed to the governor to stop the contributory pensions scheme because those retire did not know how to benefit from the scheme.

He lauded the governor for appointing Rufus Godwin as Head of Service which he has reconstructed and repositioned the civil service effectively and efficiently.

Olunwa advised workers in the state to be patience with the government over the ongoing biometrics adding that at the end of the exercise every genuine worker will be captured and paid as promised by the governor. ###
