The Rivers State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP is currently facing hard times in Abua/Odual Local Government Area as Dr. Henry Ogiri defects to the All Progressives Congress, APC.
Dr. Ogiri, a grassroots politician was a former lawmaker in the Rivers State House of Assembly. He was an immediate past Executive Director of Finance and Administration, Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC.
Information reaching our political desk revealed that Dr. Ogiri is pulling out with no fewer than two thousand (2,000) followers to the APC.
Sequel to this development, our correspondent reports that the PDP may go into extinction in ABOLGA.
According to the report, the Ex-NDDC director was the pillar of the PDP in the area before he decamps. Source hinted this weekly, that Dr. Ogiri was instrumental to all the electoral victories of PDP in ABOLGA since 1999. The defection of Dr. Ogiri will put an end to PDP in the LGA.
A prominent politician in Abua Central, Comrade Boroye Evans who spoke to our reporter applauded the decision of Dr. Ogiri for moving into APC. He slammed the Deputy Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, Hon. Marshall Uwom for not empowering youths from his constituency. Comrade Evans observed that the Deputy Speaker is selfish and lack initiatives and ideas to drive development in Abua/Odual Area.
Comrade Evans pointed out that Dr. Ogiri has empowered so much people in the LGA. He described the former NDDC director as a “political force”.
He further blasted Mrs. Betty Apiafi and Mrs. Ukei Oyaghari, the Commissioner for Women Affairs in Rivers State for what he calls “high handedness”. According to him they are not strong in politics without Dr. Ogiri.
“Now that Dr. Ogiri is moving out OF PDP. In no distant time, they will be exposed before the governor”. Comrade Evans concluded. ###
