Bayelsa Polls Will Be ‘rig And Regret’, Says Cleric

The pastor in charge of the Holy Healing Church Elimgbu, Rivers State, Rev. Oliver Onyeso, has warned politicians preparing for the forth coming Bayelsa state guber election not to contemplate rigging the polls.
In a chat with news men in Port Harcourt, the cleric said “from today onwards rig and regret because rigging and manipulation of election by any political party is criminal and there must be sanctions for those found guilty of stealing elections to gain political power.”
Onyeso urged the people not to be bitter about the arrangement put in place by the INEC to make sure the election was free and fair.
He called on the aspirants to pray not to be proud and arrogant and to commit everything to the hand of God Almighty and not to hate anybody or hunt people for no sinner will go unpunished.
“Whosoever emerges as elected governor,” he said, “should see himself as governor for all Bayelsans irrespective of their political or religious affiliations.
“The governors’ office should not be politicized, it should be open to everybody.
“Today’s prisoner may be tomorrow’s president and today’s president may be tomorrow’s prisoner. We should no longer play politics of do or die. Let us do politics of issues and development”.
Further, he said politicians should allow whosoever wins to deliver his election promises, using his local and international connections to the benefits of all Bayelsans. ####
