Gotv To Revolutionize Television Industry In Nigeria

Gotv, a new brand of digital television service network last week in Port Harcourt launched its product for her numerous customers and target audience.
Speaking at the occasion in Port Harcourt, the General Manager of the station, Mr. Mayo Okunola, said the television outfit has a partnership relationship with Multi- Choice (DSTV) but certainly not a subsidiary, nor an exterior outfit of multi choice, saying, the management decided to be very careful about the contents of package they offer to public, especially since their target audience was the low income earners and those at the lowest cadre of life.
According to him, Gotv was very unique and distinct in many ways unlike other television outfits in the country. “Gotv is the only pay television service provider in the country that uses the DVB T2 technology which is the most advanced technology standard available in the market worldwide; hence its subscribers will save themselves the time and expense of migrating twice, once some of the older T1 technology decoders in the market are eventually phased out. This also implies that with the DVB T2 technology, Gotv subscribers are set to enjoy future channel expansion without having to buy another decoder.
“Gotv is the only pay television service that provides broad range of contents, cutting across news, current affairs, general entertainment, kiddies, documentary, music, sports and a host of other house hold channels that Nigerians love to watch.” Okunola, also noted that the product offered two bouquets, namely the Gotv bouquet and Gotv plus bouquet.
The bouquet’s price rate of monthly subscription was pegged at N1,000, while the plus retails at the cost of N1,500, monthly subscription, but to underline the uniqueness of the product, the management decided to offer the complete system with three months subscription rates at N8,000 to Gotv subscribers while the Gotv plus subscribers can get the hardware device with three months subscription for only N9,500.00.
“Gotv product is very easy to use, it does not require a satellite dish, neither do you need to have a smart card to operate it. Gotv is a perfect example of plug and play technology at it’s best, with your decoder and antenna, you can set up the device yourself and start enjoying the viewing experience without the need for an installer,” the G.M noted.
Also speaking at the occasion, the Director General of the National Broadcasting Commission, NBC, Engr, Tomi Bolarinwa, ably represented by Mr. Tom Aliu Chatta, said the commission always felt delighted and happy, whenever a new Broadcasting or media outfit was established, even though monitoring the stations effectively poses a lot of challenges to the commission. He then called on Port Harcourt subscribers to be in love with Gotv station. ###
