We Will Continue To Listen ToOur People – Amaechi

Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, says his administration will continue to listen to the voice of the people in order to assure transparency, good governance and accountability in its efforts at developing the State.

Governor Amaechi said this during the First Open Governance Forum with Civil Society Groups organized by the State Ministry of Information and Communications in Port Harcourt.

Represented by his deputy, Engr. Tele Ikuru, the Governor stated that “we will continue talking with the people. We will continue to listen to our people.”

He reiterated that his administration will not renege on its vision and promised to render quality service and accountable stewardship to the people of the State.

Governor Amaechi added that “all the projects done so far by the government are  aimed at touching the lives of the people”.

His Excellency who is also the Chairman, Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF), stressed the need for strategic collaboration with the civil society organizations in ensuring the sustainability of the various people-oriented projects across the State.

He explained that the government has created an enabling environment for investors   in the State.

Governor Amaechi noted that “As a member of the global community, Rivers State is now known all over the world as the home of hospitality and business opportunities.”

He pointed out, that “we do not discriminate against anyone because we are part of the global community and we will continue to do so,” and promised to address the various issues raised at the forum.

Earlier, the State Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari, said that the first Open Governance Forum with the theme “Your Right To Be Heard” is in line with the government transparency agenda.

Mrs. Semenitari  pointed out that the forum is aimed at giving civil society organizations the opportunity to ask questions and have first hand information on the policies and projects of the Governor Amaechi-led government, maintaining that the forum would be holding on a quarterly basis.
