RSYF Advocates Business Opportunities… As Chicoco Radio Celebrates

The Rivers State Youth Federation (RSYF) has paid a courtesy call on the Hon. Commissioner for Commerce and industry, Hon. Chuma C. Chinye on Thursday 25th April, 2013.

The group which was led by Comr. Adokiye Mujuton opined that they were grateful on his appointment as commissioner for Commerce and Industry, maintaining that there was an award that was given to him through a representative on his appointment. The youth among other things demanded business opportunity, business interactive forum and to be associated with the Commissioner for Commerce and Industry for service delivery, adding that RSYF had existed for 25 years.

Responding, Hon. Chuma Chinye explained that he was concerned about what the government wanted him to do as he shared challenges with youths, saying that such challenges all over the country were man made and had been there so many years ago even though Goodluck inherited them.

The Deltan-turned Rivers commissioner revealed that there were lots of business opportunities opened to Rivers State Youths which required co-operative society, as the forthcoming business summit was all about bringing government and the businesses’s industries together so that even the small skill business people could have there opportunities and it would also help to bring industries closer to the government of Rivers State and its people.

Speaking further, he opined that there were lots of changes in his ministry as it was not funded: “It was a thinking ministry”, he said. Hon. Chinye also cited the demolition of Olympia Hotel to be one of the first class hotels we use to see in Lagos, as Delta Hotel would follow suit. “I am not happy as I don’t see any Rivers youth participating in the physical jobs going on in our construction works.” He said. “Must it be only the Abokis (Hausas) in those manual jobs”? He queried.

As a time founder of Advocacy group and SA to Gov. Amaechi for 4 years and a member of civil liberty organization (CLO) he maintained that he was relived of his SA in May 2011 and asked if our youths were willing to work on ice-block and charcoal making machines which had been purchased by the government., waiting to be managed by Rivers youths.

“The youths need qualification if they want to excel. They need to have cooperative society before they can be given those machines. The problem of politics is there, but that doesn’t mean that the youths should look for raw cash. And for you, Rivers State Youths Federation you have not been visible to come out to give your support to RSG. If you do that I can assure that others will sit up, he concluded. He however, assured RSYF of government told support if it speak against the ills of the society.

Earlier, in reply comrade Adokiye assure him that the RSYF, In no distance time will come out to the open and speaking against the abnormality going against the polity, adding that recently the youths had registered two co-operatives, as they had also found time to monitor non-tax payer corporate bodies. They however demanded to be given the right to demand such taxes as they were closer to such corporate bodies.
