Dolphins Will Sprinkle Surprise In NPFL

DUMBOR AWANENDolphins Football Club of Port Harcourt, campaigning in the Nigeria Professional Football league (NPFL) against lovers and followers of Nigeria Professional League has not enacted the form the team is known for of recent.

Though, the former Nigeria premiership winner could be termed to be maintaining a reasonable position in the Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) its performance in week 16 and 17 was not encouraging to her fans and lovers of good football based in Port Harcourt city, the capital of Rivers State.

Speaking to sports journalists shortly after week 16 and 17, coach of Dolphins, Stanley Eguma, angrily said that the officiating in the Nigeria Professional Football League is something else, describing the officiating as personality connected in the football fraternity making.

Stanley Eguma said “if this is what Nigerian Professional Football League will look like let it be, where some teams will suffer at the expense of partiality from officiating and if this will make the game grow, let it continue”.

Dolphins is currently occupying the 5th place in the Nigeria Professional Football League table, and hope to contest the number one position with her contemporaries in the league.

Playing against Kano Pillar at home the current league leaders, Dolphins wasted more than 10 clear goal scoring chances, making fans disappointed with their darling side.

Dolphins allowed Kano Pillars ran away with a point from that encounter, it was a day the heaven would have been more happier than before for Dolphins, as all the scoring chances she needed was presented to Dolphins in a platter of gold.

Despite her dwindling performance, fans are optimistic that Dolphins will swim to claim the number one position at the end of the 2012/2013 Nigeria Professional Football season.

Some of Dolphins fans that spoke to The Newswriter Sports said that it surprises them when the see Dolphins lose home match.

Others were of the opinion that Dolphins could not be predicted, while the General Manager of the side, Dumbor Awanen said Dolphins need the support and encouragement of all and sundry to survive in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

According to him, the team has its challenges. The traveling arrangement to honour away matches is a big challenge to the country football authority. As if that is not enough, 5 key players of Dolphins he said are on national team assignment, you cannot rule out players that are sick.

Inspite of all these challenges, the club is performing more than expected of the clubs, campaigning in the Nigeria Professional Football League.

He called on fans and lovers of Dolphins not to relent in supporting Dolphins, saying this is the moment Dolphins need their support and encouragement.

He assured Rivers Football fans and followers of Dolphins that the best is to come, positing that Dolphins is on her way to the top, hence Dolphins and the Rivers state government need the prayers, support ad encouragement of all who love Dolphins and good football.

Dolphins had been the pride of Rivers State, considering her past records in the Nigeria football circle. ###
