2015: AYSSN BACKS JONATHAN …Sues For Peace And Unity Of Youths

CHIDI OKPOBIRI

In view of the noble performances and developmental strides witnessed since assumption of office of the present administration led by Dr. Goodluck Jonathan, the Aligned Youths of South-South States of Nigeria [AYSSN], has declared its total and unalloyed loyalty and support for president Goodluck

Jonathan  and called on him to run for a second term in office, saying he has achieved tremendously for the region in particular and the nation at large.

The president of the Aligned Youths of South-South States, Comrade Chidi Okpobiri, in conjunction with the Secretary General Comrade Kote Nwialu and other members of the Association made this declaration while speaking to newsmen in the organization’s National Head-Quarters, Port Harcourt, recently, stressing that the president rightly deserves a second tenure based on his numerous achievements for the nation in all sectors of the economy.

Comrade Okpobiri urged all Youths of South-South region in particular and Nigeria in general to positively rally support for President Jonathan to enable him continue to deliver democratic dividends to the people.

The AYSSN  regretted the unfortunate face-off between the President and Governor Chibuike Amaechi of Rivers State, adding that leadership is all about respect, as according to them, the Governor should respect and listen to the President.

Okpobiri reasoned that if both leaders adhere to the rule of law, work in synergy for the overall interest of the people, things will work out well for all.

Okpobiri, who, alongside his Secretary-General, Comrade Kote Nwialu were returned unopposed in a recent election of the organization held in Uyo, Akwa lbom State, admonished all Youths in the South-South region to be God-fearing, respectful, humble, loyal and supportive to constituted authorities, maintaining that if that is done, the region will move forward and become a role model.

Earlier in his comment, the Secretary-General of the Youth Organization, Comrade Kote Nwialu, explained that the aims of the group were to foster lasting peace, unity and progress of South-South youths, and provide a solid platform for them to contribute their quota to the nation’s emerging democratic order and move her forward.

Comrade Nwialu, who opined that the atmosphere of peace and unity remain a sinequanon to progress and development of any

society, further maintained that such move, will help in no small measure to curb the incessant youth restiveness and violence. “The only thing that will solve problems and bring progress and development in the South-South region and the country in general is dialogue and not confrontation”.

According to him, the Aligned Youths of South-South complements the lofty efforts of the government in uniting the entire youths of the region as to guarantee the safety of lives and property of the citizenry.

Nwialu also called on leaders of South-South to eschew anything that will result to youth violence and confrontation, saying it is only when peace and harmony reign that meaningful developments can be attained.

The Secretary-General lauded Governor Godswill Akpabio’s chairmanship of PDP Governors Forum and wished him and his colleagues the best, assuring that his organization will partner with them to achieve greatness for the region.

He advised Youths in the South-South in particular and country at large to be loyal, respect the leaders and avoid violence, confrontation and work for the common interest of all in order to protect their fathers land. ###
