Youth Leader Supports Jonathan In 2015

PRINCE TONYEThe President-General of the Rivers State Youth Leaders Assembly who doubled as the National President of the Niger Delta Youth for Practical Development  NDYPD, Amb. Prince Tonye Jeminimiema, has called on the youths of Nigeria, Niger Delta region and in particular Rivers State to give their support to the President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Dr. Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, GCFR to contest the 2015 presidential election to enable him complete his ongoing transformation agenda.

The National Youth Leader/United Nations Peace Ambassador, Amb. Jeminimiema stated this when youth leaders from the 23 local government areas of Rivers State paid him a visit in his office in Port Harcourt to congratulate him on his electoral victory and subsequent swearing-in as the first President-General of the Assembly.

He, however, called on the total cooperation and unity of all registered youth organizations operating in Rivers State, and that without unity there would be no development, while also appealing to the Rivers State Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria to be proactive in the discharge of his duties, promising that his office will run a transparent administration devoid of sentiment and religion to enable him deliver the overall mandate of the Assembly.

In a related development, the youth leader also promised to work with the Rivers State Ministry of Youth Development. He stated this during a visit with members of his cabinet to the Hon. Commissioner for Youth Development, Sir Owene Wonodi in his office in Port Harcourt. He appealed to the Hon. Commissioner to ensure he carries all registered youth organizations along in his scheme of things, saying the youths are leaders of tomorrow.

In his response, the Hon. Commissioner for Youth Development, Sir Wonodi congratulated the President-General, Amb. Prince Tonye Jeminimiema and members of his team and further thanked them for the visit, saying his administration is running an open door policy while also pledging his commitment to serve the youths as the Chief Youth leader of the state.

In his speech, a member of the delegation, Comrade Collins W. Weneka, who was the former President-General of Ikwerre Youth Movement commended the victory of Amb. Prince Tonye, while appealing for adequate involvement of the entire Rivers Youth Leaders in the scheme of things.

In his remarks, Comrade David Owen, former Chairman of Niger Delta Youths, Andoni chapter called on all youths in Rivers State and beyond to give their support and total loyalty to the leadership of the Rivers State Youth Leaders Assembly to enable them deliver their mandate in the area of coordinating the youths for a peaceful co-existence and capacity building.###
