Lunatics And Port Harcourt Streets
Port Harcourt City and its environs are no longer safe for its inhabitants as lunatics roam about without any restriction. It is very common to see mad men and women on the streets of Port Harcourt.
Some of them are resort to begging of alms, while other sitting down under the hot sun or torrential rainfall.
Most of these lunatics are armed with weapons which are dangerous to the residents of the capital city of Rivers State. These mad men and women constituted veritable threats to lives and properties to the residents of the Port Harcourt city and its environs.
Apart from this, the mentally ill people litter the city with all kinds of dirts. They some time excrete on public places such as Isaac Boro Park, under the pedestrians’ bridge amongst several others. Their activities have been polluting the environment.
It disturbs us the manner and the way in which these lunatics roaming about the streets of Port Harcourt and continue unleash terror on the residents.
The inactions of the government has increased the number of mad people in Port Harcourt. Sadly, most of these mentally retarded people are coming from the neighbouring states.
The continue influx of mad men and women will do more harm than good to the residents of the Rivers State capital.
Government and relevant agencies should come out with sustainable policies that will get rid of the mad people on the streets of Port Harcourt.
We suggest that lunatic asylum should be built to tackle the ever increasing rate of mad people in our society. ###
