USGN Partners With GDI To Boost Skills Training

The United Support Group of Nigeria (USGN) has said that it is ready to partner with Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI) to boost employment of youths in the 23 local government areas of Rivers State.

This will be achieved by the group organizing artisan training of 23,000 youths for gainful employment.

Capt Ransom Somieari, chairman of USGN disclosed this over the weekend when speaking to our chief correspondent in Port Harcourt on the functions of the group.

Also the USGN, he said, intends to collaborate with GDI to provide 1,000 youths in each of the LGAs to support GDI in 2015 elections in the state.

Capt Somieari said that experts have been contacted to carry out the training of the youths in many reputable businesses.

The chairman hinted that the youths will be thought on how to embark in agriculture throughout the state when the projects kick off in March, 2014.

Somieari, who spoke on behalf of over 3,000 members of the group said “we are ready to give more opportunities to the youths to benefit maximally if given the go-ahead by our amiable Minister of Education, Hon. Nyesom Wike, leader of GDI”.

He noted that the expected cooperation and partnership between the GDI and USGN will be historic and will cover every sector in the state.

Worried by high rate of poverty staring in the faces of indigenes and negative consequences of largely unexplained business opportunities in agricultural industry.

According to USGN boss, intervention in the agric industry has become imperative to create businesses that would generate employment for the of indigenes, noting that the intervention of USGN is very much needed in training/capacity building, development of business models for entrepreneurs.###
