Okwu Bags Media Award

The Niger Delta Practicing Journalists has awarded Chief Mercline Chike Okwu with best indigenous Motor Park award for creating job opportunity for the youths.
The president of the organization, Mr. Jolly Adjerwe made the presentation over the weekend, saying Chief Okwu has provided job opportunities through the establishment of his private motor park at Waterlines axis of Port Harcourt.
He stated that Chief Okwu has also assisted many youths in the area of training scheme, scholarship for higher education and the promotion of peace at Oroworokwo community in Port Harcourt local government noting that journalists will do every possible thing to identify individuals and corporate organizations that are helping in providing jobs for the teeming youths of the Niger Delta while urging him to continue despite the economic challenges in the country.
Responding, the recipient, Chief Chike Okwu thanked the Niger Delta Practicing journalists and publishers for the honour done him.
Chief Okwu said he was shocked by the award especially when he did not know the group before now commenting that the award will encourage him to do more especially in assisting the youths.
He maintained that in the past he was offered enough money to sell the motor park but he refused because the motor park has generated enough employment and put food on the table of transporters, restaurant operators, bus drivers, conductors and owners of stores at the motor park. ###
