Governor Siminalayi Fubara has announced his plan to probe past administrations amidst the escalating accusations and counter-accusations between him and Chief Nyesom Wike. The governor made this known in a speech after the swearing-in of a new Attorney General & Commissioner for Justice, Barr. Dagogo Israel Iboroma, SAN, on Monday 13th May 2024.

Governor Fubara told the listening attendees at the occasion, “We’ll be setting a panel of inquiry to investigate the affairs of governance”.

Subscribing to the. plan, some kinsmen of former governor Wike have expressed liking for the prospect of thoroughly investigating his government. In a solidarity rally, Chijioke Ihunwo, the state chapter Chairman of the National Youth Council of Nigeria, and leader of the SIMplified Movement in Obio-Akpor Local Government Area, assured Governor Fubara of the support of the people of the LGA regarding the oncoming inquiry.

Making it plain to the press, Ihunwo said, “The probe will return a lot of properties that belong to government back to government and not to one private individual”.

The announcement is the latest upshot in the trouble between Wike and Fubara which broke out in October last year after 27 lawmakers of the Rivers State House of Assembly with a discipular attachment to Wike attempted to impeach Fubara.***
