Equip The Police To Combat Crime
Constitutionally speaking police is responsible of maintaining peace and order in any given society.
A nation without a Police Force is bound to face lawlessness and anarchy. Security is very paramount and critical in the life of any citizen, therefore all levels of government are expected to provide gadgets that will enable security officers such as the police to discharge their duties effectively.
It is sad and annoying that in this present age and time the police in Nigeria are still combating crime with batons. The major reason why heinous crimes are increasing day by day is because of absence of effective security equipment in the possession of the police.
Government cannot fight crimes without providing better arms and ammunition to the police. Moreso, it is disheartening that an average police officer under the present economic hardship is earning less than N20,000 per month. How can such a police officer will perform his or her job excellently. There is need for government to improve the welfare of the police and also to provide insurance for them in case of any mishap their families will never regret. ###
