Asalga Women In Politics (II)

riversThere are several other female politicians in the Asari-Toru Local Government Area who are movers and shakers of politics in the area among them are:

(1)         Hon. Mrs. Joeba West: She is a politician of a great repute. The first female secretary of Asalga council. She was a past councilor representing the Asalga Ward 9, and also the first female Caretaker Chairperson of the LGA. Joeba as she is fondly called was a former Commissioner in charge of the Rivers State Ministry of Women Affairs. Prior to her defection to the All Progressives Congress, APC she contested the Asalga constituency II Assembly seat on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, but stepped down for one Hon. Ben Horsfall. She is heroine in Asalga politics, because of her uncommon courage.

(2)        Hon. Mrs. Tonte Bull: The history of Asari-Toru cannot be completed without the name Tonte Bull. She has a wide spread political fame. Before the creation of Asalga, Tonte Bull was so prominent especially in the second Republic, as a member of the defunct National Party of Nigeria (NPN). Tonte Bull was a one time adviser in the Asalga council. She had contributed greatly to the development of the politics of Asalga.

(3)        Barr. Mrs. Emi George: A staunch member of the People Democratic Party (PDP). A grassroots mobilizer and a woman leader. Currently, she holds the office of the secretary Asalga council.

(4)        Hon. Mrs. Wami Princewill: A former councilor representing Ward 6 in the LGA. A fearless and courageous female politician. She has served PDP in different capacities, that repositioned the party.

(5)        Mrs. Siya Eferebo: A grassroots female politician that has created so much impact within and outside the political space in Asalga. Mrs. Eferebo is an active member of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP and the Grassroot Development Initiative (GDI). She was instrumental to the electoral victory of the PDP in the LGA.

(6)        Mrs. Fabiawari Long-John: She is a devoted Christian, a community and opinion leader. Currently the President of the Asalga chapter of the National Council of women Society (NCWS). A serious minded politician and frontline member of the People Democratic Party, PDP. She hails from Asalga ward 3 and assiduously worked for the electoral success of the party in the area. ###
