Book In Honour Of Amaechi’s Good Leadership Launched

A book entitled “Nigeria Leadership and Development: Essay in Honour of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Amaechi, The Executive Governor of Rivers State,” written by the Garden City Leadership Initiative, has been presented to the public for consumption.
The launching ceremony took place at the Rivers state House of Assembly auditorium last weekend.
In his speech, the Speaker of the Federal House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Aminu Tambuwal who commended the Garden City Leadership Initiative for compiling the book, noted that the book was all about good leadership quality of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, the governor of Rivers State for his people in all sectors.
The Federal House of Representatives Speaker who was represented by Hon. Barr. Worgu Gboms, the commissioner for Justice and Attorney General of Rivers State and former NBA chairman in the state, noted that Nigerians have lost the reading culture which was why the state set up Rainbow Book Association. He urged the public to inculcate the culture of reading to broaden their knowledge.
He bought thirty copies of the book.
Presenting the book to the public, chief Mrs. Seinye Lulu Briggs, the Executive Vice Chairman, Moni Pulo Nigeria Limited, described Amaechi as a true and exemplary good leader who has impacted positively on the people he governed.
Mrs. Briggs who was represented by Mrs. Solatea Akarolo, described Amaechi as a transformer who has given the people of Rivers State what they needed.
She commended the Garden City leadership Initiative for a job well done and purchased 200 copies of the book for her self and to spread across the institutions in the state for research.
Reviewing the book, Barr. Oronto Douglas, S.A to President Goodluck Jonathan on Strategy traced the leadership quality of Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi to University of Port Harcourt, while he was the NURSS president in the institution, stressing that he transferred his good leadership to the state which he governed by impacting positively on the people of Rivers State.
Hon. Barr. Douglas who was represented by his Personal Assistant, Mrs. Molora B, decried bad leadership in the nation, noting that most leaders do what is not right.
He said they collect bribes and commit other atrocities that are not supposed to be done.
He recalled a book written by Professor Chinua Achebe, titled “The trouble with Nigeria” and other books and stressed that governor Amaechi is a good leader who has his people at heart. He said governor Amaechi and Baba Tunde Fashola of Lagos state are better than others because they see beyond the peoples expectations.
Barr. Oronto Douglas stated the need to produce good leaders that would make positive change in federation.
He said the book was written to encourage good leadership and recommended it to the public for consumption.
In his speech, Rt. Hon. Amaechi noted that the book was to encourage good leadership, emphasizing that the book is not just about him, but for Nigerian leaders to do the right things that would impact positively on the people they govern and future generations.
Governor Amaechi who was represented by Senator representing Rivers South East, Senator George Sekibo, that it is only the leader who does what is good without minding what will happen that can make good leadership. He urged leaders to always take risk that can impact on their people positively.
Governor Amaechi noted the poor reading culture among Nigerians and urged the public not only to purchase the books, but digest the book for their own good. He commended those who compiled the book.
In his response, Mr. Kelechi Samuel, the Director, Garden City Leadership Initiative, thanked governor Amaechi for his presence and those who graced the occasion, stressing that the book aimed at encouraging good leadership assuring that they would revisit the salient areas pointed out in the book to make them right.
Others who graced the occasion include, Rt. Hon. Dan Otelemaba Amachree, the Speaker of the Rivers State House of Assembly, represented by Hon. Onari Brown, a lawmaker representing Akuku Toru I in the State House of Assembly, Governor Peter Obi of Anambra State, Commissioner for Environment, among others. ####
