Appointment Of Tony Okocha …Royal Father Commends Amaechi

A prominent chief in Rivers State, His Royal Highness, Chief Owabie Tobin, the Eze Onumini 1 of Port Harcourt City LGA, has commended Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi, governor of Rivers State for appointing another illustrious son of Ikwerre extraction, Chief Tony Okocha as Chief of Staff, Government House.
Chief Owabie Tobin made the commendation while in a chat with the political editor of The Newswriter newspaper in Port Harcourt.
According to him, the appointment of another Ikwerre son who is from the same LGA with the former chief of Staff, is an indication that governor Amaechi has love for the LGA and the entire people of Ikwerre. He urged him to continue in that spirit to better the lives of Ikwerre sons and daughters.
He congratulated Hon. Tony Okocha, who was the former caretaker committee chairman of Obio/Akpor, on his new assignment and described him as a staunch member of Ikwerre Youth Movement, IYM, who has contributed immensely for the uplift of the association, adding that IYM was founded by governor Amaechi to actualize his political ambition.
Chief Tobin also congratulated Hon. Chikere Azubuike Wanjoku, a member representing Ikwerre constituency in the Rivers State House of Assembly and the national president of IYM on the successful IYM congress held at Akpor Grammar school Ozuoba Obio/Akpor LGA recently. He stressed that his leadership quality has brought unity, oneness to the association and urged members to continue to cooperate with one another to move the association forward.
The Eze Onumini 1 of Port Harcourt who lamented over the insecurity situation masterminded by the dreaded Boko Haram, urged president Goodluck Jonathan to take security seriously.
According to him, President Jonathan should borrow a leaf from President Barak Obama the president of United States of America on the way he dealt with Osama Bill Laden.
The royal father commended President Jonathan on the manner he resolved the issue of the removal of fuel subsidy and also lauded governor Amaechi for the role he played during the removal of subsidy period.
According to him, governor Amaechi met with the petroleum marketers and transporters in the state and reduced the price of petroleum from 141 to 137 per litre as well as transport fare in the State, before president Jonathan finally reduced it to 97 per litre, adding that governor Amaechi also met with the stakeholders in all the 23 LGAs of Rivers State through the chairmen to enlighten the people at the grassroots on the need for the removal of fuel subsidy.
He prayed God to give governor Amaechi strength and understanding and more wisdom to pilot the state effectively, assuring that IYM would continue to support him throughout his tenure in office. ###
