Rivers State NUJ Holds Election

The Rivers State Council of Nigeria Union of Journalists, NUJ, has concluded its plan to organize the 5th state triennial delegates conference slated for Thursday April 19, 2012.
A statement jointly signed by the chairman and secretary of the credentials committee, Vincent S. Needom and Mr. Chris Konkwo of the National Network Newspaper, respectively, disclosed that this year’s version of the conference which is held every three years will be chaired by Prince Tonye Princewill, with the Governor of Rivers state, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi as the Special Guest of Honour.
The state Commissioner for Information and Communication, Mrs. Ibim Semenitari is the chief Host.
According to the statement, a renowned journalist and former state chairman of the NUJ, Amaopu-Senibo Bobo Brown will present the conference talk with the theme, “Attaining Journalism Excellence in a Democracy like Nigeria.”
The statement appealed to all registered members of the NUJ to attend and participate effectively.
In a related development, the National Secretariat of the NUJ has also directed that all voters and contestants must pay their professional feels up to 2012.
All registered members of the state council of the NUJ are therefore by this directive expected to update their financial standing before the conference date. ###
