WALGA Sponsors Okrika Youths On Empowerment Programme

Wakirike Local Government Council is to partner with the Rivers State Sustainable Development Agency (RSSDA) to sponsor Okrika sons and daughters in block work and concrete, electrical installation, welding and fabrication, IT Auto Card and PC Support Systems.
The chairman of the council, Barr. Tamuno Williams, dropped the hint while flagging off the Youth Employment Registration Process of the scheme at the council secretariat on Monday, May 7, 2012.
Tamuno Williams stated that it is the desire of the council to adopt proactive measures to encourage skill acquisition and youth empowerment programmes to create further employment for the teeming youth population in the area.
The Walga chairman remarked that the council decided looking into the area of youth empowerment as it is the only panacea to tackle the issue of youth unemployment and restiveness.
The registration process which lasted for two days witnessed a turn-out of over 300 Okrika youths who expressed joy over the manner the council chairman has taken the issue of youth empowerment as his priority.
The youths promised to be good ambassadors of Okrika when eventually selected for the programme. ###
