Governor Amaechi of Rivers State has proposed Isaka Community for a Marine Town, only if the Okrikans will willingly surrender it. The governor made this disclosure while responding to questions by people of Isaka town, during his recent town hall meeting at Okrika Local Government Area.
The people of Isaka through a woman cried out to the governor on their being neglected in his developmental strides since he came into power, saying that there is no landing jetty for the people of Isaka, also in his soft loan scheme to market women none of Isaka indigene or woman is remembered as the place has been neglected by his government.
Responding Governor Amaechi said he will turn Isaka town to a marine town, where the community will serve as a marine based to settlers and people of the state on the condition that if the people would willfully surrender Isaka to him for that purpose.
He also promised to refurbished the existing craft centre in Okrika Local Government with the sum of two hundred million naira and students will be sponsored to post graduate programme with the condition that they will come back to lecture .
Governor Amaechi stressed his condition of offering scholarship to first degree graduates, saying that medical science will sit for an exam to qualify them to be sponsored by his government for oversea scholarship.
While he task first degree graduates to be prepared to be sponsored abroad with the condition that such graduates must come back to teach in the state own university of education.
For Isaka, he said he will provide them with a plant but they must be prepared to fuel it themselves.
He supported the chairman of the council of possible ban of Okada because of breach of security in the area.
Earlier, the chairman of the council, Barr. Tamuno Williams had requested the governor to establish a fish farm in the area so as to engage unemployed youths of Okrika Local Government.###
