ANLCA BOT, Executive Visit Dubai For Capacity Building

The Board of Trustees, National Executive members and some selected women from the chapter executives of Association of Nigeria Licensed Customs Agents (ANLCA) have returned from Dubai, after their 4 day training on leadership and governance recently.

Chief Henry Njoku, the BOT chairman of ANLCA made this disclosure to The Newswriter in Port Harcourt, Rivers State. He stated that the training was organized by CTC London, in Dubai for the National Executive members, BOT or ANLCA and some selected women from the chapters executives of their association.

He reiterated that the training taught them what leadership was all about and what is expected of them as leaders. Njoku expressed confidence that after the training, ANLCA will never remain the same, adding that they are applying some of the things that they learnt.

The BOT chairman said the training showed them how to be a leaders, how a leader should look like, bearing in mind that powers have been entrusted in their hands and what they are expected to do. He also said that they were taught of freight forwarding as well.

Asked how other members will gain from the training, chief Njoku maintained that their incoming NEC meeting will be an avenue to let their members know the gains of the Dubai trip. He disclosed that a day was set-out for them (ANALCA) to have their own meeting after which certificates were issued to them.

Njoku pointed out that the major thing they were taught was leadership and team work, stressing that the work is moving the association to where it is supposed to be. He stressed that the task will not be a one man job, but a team work, believing that by working together as a team, their association will be better for it.

On members welfare, Henry said that a committee was set up by his board, to handle the crises in the South-West, where they just conducted an election. He stressed that they are beginning to take up areas they felt they are not doing well, ensuring that the South-West election, saw the emergence of those that know what to do in order to give back to the electorate that elected them.

He maintained that subsequent training in South Africa and beyond, will afford the chapter executives, the opportunity to enrich their knowledge. On the introduction of the single window by the Nigeria Customs Service, Chief Ikeoha said that everything in Nigeria never come easy at the beginning, but affirmed that it is as a welcome development, as long as it is well implemented.

While responding to the issue of Risk Assessment Report (PAAR) and Pre-Annual Assessment Report (PAAR) as it relates to their business with the Customs, the Managing Director and Chief Executive of Harrietex Group, admitted that government takes decisions, but emphasized on the need for government to carry the people along. He stated further that government knows why it gave a little extension on PAAR and PAAR, believing that customs are ready to do the job. ###
