The Senator representing Rivers South East Senatorial District in the National Assembly, Senator Magnus Abe has taken his free eye screening exercise to the people of Kpite in Tai local Government area of Rivers State.
Addressing the people shortly after a courtesy call on the Paramount Ruler of Kpite community, Senator Abe said, the free eye programme for children and Adult was in fulfillment of his campaign promise.
Represented by the Vice-Chairman, Rivers South-East Senatorial District of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Chief Bodo Eddo, Senator Abe assured that the free eye test programme will get to the nooks and crannies of the senatorial district.
“I am here in Kpite community to fulfill part of my campaign promises to the people of my Senatorial district, we have been to Andoni, Opobo, Khana, Gokana, Oyigbo and Eleme local government areas for the free eye care programme in line with our promise, to put the people first”, Senator Abe said.
On his part, the Paramount Ruler of Kpite community, Mene Samuel Nnee, described the initiative as a welcome development, and people oriented.
“We can see what Senator Magnus Abe is doing, it is first of its kind in this Senatorial district, the eye care programme will restore the sight of many of our people. The people of Kpite community will continue to support him”, Mene Samuel said.
Also speaking, a Commissioner in the Local Government Service Commission, Prince Melubari Akekue urged Senator Abe to remain focus on his campaign promises to the people, adding that, the people of Kpite community were ready to participate and benefit from his programmes.
Meanwhile, Senator Magnus Ngei Abe has described the death of Chief Needam Bekee a prominent elder from the Babbe District of Khana Local Government Area as a colossal loss to the people of Rivers State.
Senator Abe who stated this in a statement said late Chief Bekee demonstrated uncommon passion for the growth of Rivers State and Ogoni Kingdom in particular, describing his death as painful.
“It is difficult to come to terms with the news of his death, he said, emphasizing that Chief Needam Bekee was not only a philanthropist, but a progressive who has sowed seeds in the younger generation.
“We will miss his fatherly role, his advice and commitment to the greater good of the people of our state”, Senator Abe said.
