Poor Constructions Mars Newly Andoni Road

The ever on-going but never finishing construction work on the Ogoni, Andoni and Opobo Road, christened “Unity Road” is fast washing away especially in this period of raining season due to poor construction work on the road.

The emergence of that road in Rivers state was greeted with enthusiasm by the affected three local government areas judging from the difficulties faced by the people.

Citizens of the area, particular those from the Andoni extraction where the effect of the collapsing road is much are worried over the situation, considering their long years of expectation of the project.

The effect of that road, citizens claims will be disastrous than when they lived without any because according to them, the pilling works on the road was poorly done hence the incessant erosion washing off the road.

In his comment on the said project, Mr. Solomon Atankpo who expressed shocked on seeing the cross section of the damages on the road, said that government may have been taking Andoni people for granted hence there could be no reason why such unprofessional job be taken to Andoni area.

Mr. Atankpo who is a social analyst has called on the Rivers State government to ensure that no live is lost occasion on the unprofessional job they are doing.

He is also calling on people particularly the Rivers State commissioner for Agriculture, Mr. Emma Chinda to stop rating Andoni as having any road until the road is completed and put in use, adding that the said road as an achievement of the state government under Governor Chibuike Amaechi, is an understatement, pointing out that with the snail speed and unprofessional job going on, on that road, it will be laughable for anyone to attribute it as a success.

The Rivers State government is urged to expedite action by putting in place or fix  the fallen and eroded parts of the road to avert any unforeseen circumstance. ##
