Chidi Lloyd Not In Rivers State Police Command – CP Mbu… As Police Arrest 88 Armed Robbery Suspects

The Rivers State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Joseph Mbu said the House leader of Rivers State Assembly, Hon. Chidi Lloyd is not with the state police command.

The commissioner made the clarification during a press briefing at the police headquarters Moscow Road, Port Harcourt on Monday 29th July, 2013.

According to the CP, he has not seen Lloyd except when he brought a complaint of a car accident to his office of which they handled the matter correctly.

He stated that the only time he has seen him was on the video coverage on the fracas at the House of Assembly, but noted that the Police Force Headquarters is handling his case.

Mbu however, condemned the issue of torture as reported on the pages of newspapers and pleaded with journalists to report facts stressing that he is not a politician as they are making him popular by mentioning his name on every matter in the state. CP Mbu exonerated the state police from any suspected case of torture, saying Hon. Lloyd is not in their custody.

On the issue of the kidnapped youth corper members at Abua/Odual LGA, the Commissioner stated that where the youth corpers were staying was prone to danger, as they have rescued the victims.

The State Commissioner of Police used the medium to disclose the achievements recorded by the Rivers State police command for the month of July.

In a document made available to journalists, the command has arrested 88 armed robbery suspects, 16 kidnapping suspects and cultist, number of fire arms recovered was 38, while the number of ammunition recovered was 2631 rounds.

The police said it has also recovered six stolen vehicles from suspected armed robbers.

Other items recovered were 30 bags of weeds suspected to be Indian hemps, 64 parcel of weeds suspected to be Indian hemp, ten litres of gun powder, 38 wraps of cocain. Some of the fire arms recovered are 2 GPMG, 8 AK47, 6 AK49, 1g3 rifle, 2 pipes and 6 stolen vehicles with the following numbers, Volve Saloon car Reg. No Delta SAP 25 AE, Mercedes 190E Saloon car Reg. No. Akwa Ibom AA 848, Nissan Pathfinder Jeep Reg. No Ogun OGE 288 AH, 2 Toyota Camry Saloon cars Reg. No. Lagos EG 850 FST and Lagos PP 932 KJA, One Toyota Avalon Saloon car Reg. No RVS AJ 95 KHE.
