Int’l Ngo Celebrates Peace Day In Bayelsa State

The International Association of World Peace Advocate has concluded its plan to host this year’s United Nations International Day of Peace at the Bayelsa State Government House Banquet Hall on 21st September, 2013.

In a chat with journalists through phone conversation from Cameroon, the international spokesman of the association, Ambassador Emmanuel Nkweke disclosed that the choice of Bayelsa State for the celebration was because their last programme organized in Bayelsa State was adjudged one of the best programmes, the association had ever organized in Africa adding that the association has taken it as a compulsory task to be hosting international programmes once each year in Bayelsa State.

According to Amb. Nkweke who stated, that Bayelsa State has become a safe heaven for hosting international programmes, emphasized that the peace day celebration for 2013 will amongst others feature the ringing of the first ever peace bell in Nigeria, flagging-off of campaign against Nigeria flag abuse and the unveiling of the Nigeria peace cup for school children in Bayelsa State, pointing out that the team for the tournament may represent the governor of Bayelsa State, Seraki Dickson on the one side while the other side of the team will represent governor Dickson’s wife respectively.

The spokesman further disclosed that about fifty schools are to participate in the celebration of the United Nations Peace Day celebration, adding that each participant is to be trained as an online peace maker with a certificate, hence, this year theme is “peace education” stressing that academics, peace organizations, church workers, Chief Imams of several Mosques and various chaplains organizations among others are to grace the occasion.

He called on all Peace lovers to attend the ceremony as history will repeat itself on that eventful day. ###
