PH Polo Club Lifts 2014 President Trophy

The Port Harcourt Unity 2014 Polo tournament came to an end on Sunday 19th January 2014 with the Port Harcourt Polo Club lifting the president trophy.

The tournament started from 12th of January 2014. The epoch making tournament attracted players from Nigeria and outside, 15 teams featured for the tournament amidst others.

The governor’s trophy the Umir’s trophy and others as winners emerged from each categories but leaving the Port Harcourt Polo Club which hosted the tournament lifting the President cup and other.

Michael Ogolo was adjudged the most improved polo player of the tournament which also led his team and carted home that trophy and prize.

Winners were happily celebrated in each category, it was indeed fun to see Polo players from across Africa unite to have fun in the 8 days lasting Polo Tournament.

Chief of staff Tony Okocha represented Governor Amaechi of Rivers State and also represented one of the trophies among the four trophies.

Speaking to sports journalists, shortly after the final matches Hon. Hadiq Sarieke, Senator representing Katsina North remarked that, it was a nice tournament, adding that this is about the best tournament out of the lots hosted by Port Harcourt Polo Club because it was entirely injury free.

He also advised that Port Harcourt Polo players could improve their game on the sport by finding a different facility so as to have a regular play time because of the rains adding that if a polo player is always found on the horse he might just be a local player as he does has only four months to be playing around the year because of the rain season.  ###
