Editorial: Equip The Health Centres In Rivers

There is a popular saying that, “health is wealth”. Thus good health is essential for the development of any given nation. We need to applaud gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi for the several health centres built virtually in all communities in rivers state.

No doubt, governor Amaechi’s health policy will boost the primary health care delivery system in the state. However, most of the health centres built by the governor Amaechi’s administration are not well equipped with necessary drugs and medical facilities. Based on this, minor medical issues could not be tackled at the health centres. As a result of this several patients have lost their lives on their way to bigger hospitals in the urban centres.

Beside this there is absence of qualified medical personnel in the health centres, as most of them are being managed by auxiliary nurses who have little or no training in medical sciences.

Let us use this medium to call on the state governor and relevant agencies to ensure that the health centres built by the present administration under the leadership of gov. Amaechi should be equipped to serve the people of the state well. ###
