Task Before Rivers LGA CTCs
On Monday, Gov. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi had sworn in Caretaker Committee Chairmen to oversee the affairs of twenty-one (21) LGAs in the state. Their tenure according to the Governor would elapse within three (3) months.
In the past three (3) days, most CTC chairmen are busying constituting functional committees in their irrespective LGAs. As far as we are concerned CTC has no constitutional backing, the CTC chairmen and their members should take note of this. Their basic function is to hold brief for elective officers that will emerge soon. They are not suppose to embark on any new project, because, three months is very short to execute projects at the grassroots. However, their duties amongst others include: payment of council staff salary and ensuring adequate security, while waiting for elective council chairmen and councilors to come on board.
This is not the time for any of the CTC chairmen and members to victimize his or her perceived political enemies.
It is also not a period to loot council funds and property that meant for the development of the local areas. Let use this medium to advise the CTC chairmen to focus on workers welfarism and the security of lives and property in the rural areas. ##
