APC Will Win In Obio/Akpor – CTC Chairman

The newly inaugurated Caretaker Chairman of Obio/Akpor Local Government, Hon. Dr. Lawrence Chijioke Chuku has expressed excitement and thanked Governor Chibuike Amaechi for his appointment, saying that by virtue of that, the Governor has balanced the equation in Obio/Akpor which has been one sided since 1999, adding that the people of Evo kingdom are very happy and would always appreciate him.
Hon. Chuku who spoke to journalists in his country home at Woji on Monday, during a reception hosted in his honour after he had sworn in other members of the CTC at the council secretariat said even if the appointment is for only one day, the wishers of Obio/Akpor people for a long time has worked out, stressing that the number of people in his residence and the jubilation testified to that.
According to the CTC chairman, “I am not a magician to transform the local government for three months or to touch everybody life. It is not possible because the change we have been praying for is here with us, and that is why you see everybody being happy.
Obio/Akpor, he said is an APC area, adding that in every community in Obio/Akpor, the number of people in APC is tremendous and outweighs that of PDP and other parties, hence the party is around to deliver Obio/Akpor to APC”.
Reiterating his thanks and appreciation to Governor Amaechi, Chuku described him as a wonderful man, an Evo son, and Obio/Akpor son, who enjoys good support in Obio/Akpor, hence Evo people have promised to reward him by giving him massive support whoever he’s supporting.
He called on the people not to allow themselves to be deceived to think that an Ikwerre son will govern Rivers State again after governor Chibuike Amaechi, as such idea will not work, because Ikwerre is not the only ethnic nationality in the state.
“Ikwerre people co-habits peacefully with their neighbours, take what belongs to them and give to others what belong to them.
We are not greedy or selfish people, and for all I know, the governorship of this state is going to other senatorial zones and all ethnic groups have the right to run”, he said.
The chairman said he has officially dissolved all revenues and market committees in the LGA, threatening to deal with anybody caught parading himself as a revenue agent in Obio/Akpor. He promised to reconstitute the committees soon, as there will not be touting in the LGA.
The chairman stressed that the issue of indigene and non-indigene is no longer relevant, as wherever one resides is his place.
Chuku expressed joy that the staff of Obio/Akpor LGA, are very happy with the new CTC, as they have always been prayerful. He urged them to go back to their work, be delighted and be prepared to sit up being highly productive people. ###
