EX-NUJ President Laid To Rest

The Rivers State Governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi has announced the donation of sum of ten million naira for educational Endowment fund for the family of late Mr. Ndagene Akwu the former national President of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

Governor Amaechi announced this during the burial ceremony of late Mr. Akwu in Port Harcourt.

Governor Amaechi who was represented by Mrs. Ibim Seminitari, the Rivers State Commissioner for Information who described the demise of the former national president of the Union as a great lost to Rivers State and the nation explained that the fund was to kick start the educational endowment fund for the children of the late former union leader and condoled the family of the deceased.

In his sermon, Bishop Dr. Felix Ezebunwo of the Open International Church who noted that all the assets acquired by men on earth are vanity urged Christian not to be boastful with what they got on earth rather should glorify God.

He described the late Ndagene as a “humble man’ and enjoined Christians to emulate his life style while on planet earth.

Alhaji Garba Mohammed who expressed sadness over the demise of the late former national leader of the NUJ said late Ndagene has served the union with the best of his ability and prayed that God should accept his humble soul.

Opaka Dokubo chairman Rivers State Council of NUJ, who expressed dismay over the sudden death of the late former National Union Leader described Late Ndagene Akwu as a humble man and charged other members of the Union to emulate him.###
