I Inherited N294.1m Debt – Asalga Chairman

ASALGA CHAIRMANThe Caretaker Committee Chairman of Asari-Toru Local Government Area of Rivers State, Chief Odiari Princewill has revealed that he met a total sum of two hundred and ninety four million, one hundred and fifty-seven thousand, one hundred and fifty-seven thousand, one hundred and fifty seven naira ninety-five kobo (N294,157,175.95k) as debt owed PHED.
The Asalga boss who disclosed this when he visited the Buguma Council of Chiefs at the weekend, attributed it to the continued power outage in the area.
He described the debt as “big burden,” saying that his administration has paid a sum of four million naira. As for water the CTC boss said, he has done the needful to ensure steady supply of water.
Chief Princewill who recalled that on assumption of office, he was confronted with several unpleasant situation such as looting, illegal possession of fire arms, non-payment of salaries, illegal sale of government land among other criminal activities.
The council boss who expressed wrong over the abduction of the council Head of Administration, Chief Dayspring Braide, said that his administration has moved to set-up territorial guard to combat the menace.
He promised that in no distant time, the council will embark on maintenance of King Amachree memorial Hall, giving face-lift to the lock-up stores at King Amachree’s square, rehabilitation of Buguma conference hall, the council chairman’s lodge, completion of NYSC lodge, payment of staff salary amongst other projects.
The chairman warned former political appointees who are still in possession of council properties to return them or to face the law.
The chairman, however stressed the importance of chieftaincy institution in the development of the local councils.
He promised to partner with the Chiefs, Council to ensure security in the LGA.
Chief Princewill used the forum to announce the appointment of Chief Norman Wokoma, Snr Special Asst. on Chieftaincy Affairs, Chief Opubo Princewill, Snr. Special Asst on Community Affairs and Chief Ogonoye John-West, Snr. Special Asst on Conflict Resolution. ###
