Corrupted Parliamentarians

In Military administration the legislative organ which is the most potent instrument in democracy is absent. Only two arms of government exist in the military rule, these are the judiciary and the executive. Under military the masses have no voice and their fundamental human rights have been trampled upon.

For now military administration has become aberration and out dated. That was why patriotic leaders across the globe condemned the recent coup in Turkey. Coup de tat is not a legitimate means of taking over government, but the right way is through the ballot box.

The importance of democratic governance cannot be overemphasized. It brings liberty and development and encourages mass participation in governance. Legislative organ is the symbol of democracy where the masses have a say through their representatives whose basic statutory function is to enact better laws that will put smiles on their faces. Legislators protect the masses and promote good governance.

Sadly our legislative chambers both at the states and national levels across the nation are mostly occupied by corrupted persons whose ambition is to empty public treasuries and transfer same to their bank accounts in Europe and other civilized nations.

It is worrisome and embarrassing that some officers in the lower chamber of the National Assembly have been accused of tempering with the nation’s budget by inserting figures that were not original contained therein.

Our parliamentarians are behaving like “uneducated” people whose sense have been knocked. If not how can law makers will alter a budget, a financial documents, that have been presented by the President.

The country is stinking and our legislators are greatly corrupt, evil minded and wicked.

House officers who have involved in the padding of the 2016 budget should be made to face the wrath of the law. ###
