Authors Celebrate International Day For Persons With Disabilities, 2023

 

 

 

The Professional Authors International, an association of book writers, paid a courtesy visit to members of the Special School for Handicapped Children to, with them, celebrate the International Day for Persons with Disabilities, 2023. The authors proclaimed the theme of the day,  being, “United in action to rescue and achieve the SDGs for, with and by persons with Disabilities.

The event was attended by several schools and centers that cater to persons with Disabilities.

Many dignitaries graced the occasion, including the Rivets State Commissioner for Education, the Commissioner for Social Welfare, the Rivers State Chairman, the National Orientation Agency, and the Chairman, of Rivers State Senior Secondary School Board. Variously, they spoke on the general neglect of persons living with disabilities and called for appropriate steps to be taken to ensure the education, well-being, and happiness of such persons.

Engr. Franklin Amaewhule who spoke on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer of Professional Authors International charged all the stakeholders involved, to wake up to their responsibilities regarding the rights, education, and welfare of persons living with disabilities.

The Professional Authors International donated books to the students of schools, giving joy to as many of them as were present.***
