Sampson Ngerebara Emerges Uniport Alumni President

A one time Rivers State commissioner for works during Chief Rufus Ada George administration in 1992 1993 Engineer Sampson Ngeregbara has emerged the president of UNIPORT Alumni Association.
The election and the inauguration ceremony took place at the federal secretariat, Aba Express Road, Port Harcourt.
Engr. Ngerigbara was declared unoppose at the election. Other executive members elected include, Dr. Mrs. Gabriel Akanibo, 1st Vice President, Osaro A Obari, 2nd Vice President, Ikporo Iyekpo, financial secretary, Mrs. Dina Okongba Treasurer.
The rest were, Mr. Ule Williams, assistant secretary, Mr. Sunny TuboTamuno, PRO, while Mr. Wuma Dick Eziwa is to serve as provost.
The post of general secretary was cancelled due to some mix up and would be conducted later.
In his post election speech, Ngerigbara thanked members of the Alumni for electing him and his colleagues into office.
The former commissioner who noted that his election as president was a call to serve, commended the Alumni for putting the Uniport in a stage, assuring that he would add up what they have done and promised to carry everyone along in the scheme of things.
In a chat with journalists, the former running mate to chief Sergent Chidi Awuse on the platform of DPP for governorship in Rivers State, promised to impact positively on the Alumni and focus more on what would transform the association and enjoined all members of the association to support and contribute their imputs as well as give advices where necessary to move the association forward.
The chairman-elect who noted that the major challenge was how to host the forthcoming Alumni convention, assured that he would do his best with the support of his executive and members of the association.
In a chat with journalists, the immediate outgoing president of the association, Professor O. M. Ndimele, while congratulating the new executive for their success, promised not to abandon them, rather would give them advices and contribute his imput where necessary for the upliftment of the association and advised them to focus more on projects.
The former President of the association recalled his achievements in office, such as improvement of membership, hosting of UNIPORT students contingent that won the NUGA game, career conduct on Uniport students, hosting of the Alumni for six months before rotation, as well as hosting them in a five star hotel, among others. ###
