Bayelsa Guber Race: Elders Forum Rejects Cash As PDP Rejects Sylva

As the political wind blows across the state of Bayelsa for the forthcoming governorship election in the state, Bayelsa state Elders forum for the first time rejected cash running into millions of Naira allegedly presented to them by the incumbent governor to woo them.
The huge sum was allegedly offered to the elder stakeholders of the state politics to solicit for their support in his bid to administer Creek Haven for the second time.
A close source of the Bayelsa political leaders forum hinted our News desk that prior to the flag off, the supposed Governorship rally of Timipre Sylva, the state Governor, was said to have approached the forum with millions of naira for the elders forum of Bayelsa politics to consent to his second tenure bid, stating that for the first time the elders forum of the state spoke with one voice, saying “please go with your money, we are not giving you our support to run the state down. May your money perish with you,” which has never been done since Sylva came into power.
The source also revealed that the incumbent was having easy ride with the elders’ forum of the state with cash, but to his surprise his cash was rejected with a curse from the elders of the state.
A more revealing hint has it that the governor said whether the elders forum like it or not he must be governor of Bayelsa state again. The governor quoted second tenure as a right to complete his proposed projects.
Like a wounded lion, the governor went round wooing stakeholders of different shades in the state.
Political observers are of the opinion that the governor may join another political party to actualize his dreams. But the question left hanging on the tongue of every Bayelsan is, “will Bayelsans cast their vote for the governor amidst tears and pains suffered by citizens of the state?”
While the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) was conducting the state congress to finally screen those who will contest the party’s primaries, the governor managed with rented crowd for his rally.
It is no longer news that the working committee of PDP has finally rejected Governor Sylva to contest the state primaries, as he was screened out of the November 19 primaries along with four others. It is the end of Sylva you can say in PDP primaries.
However, there are strong indications that Sylva may continue with his governorship ambition with other political parties to actualize his dream of occupying Creek Haven for the second time.
Bayelsans were elated at the news that the People Democratic Party (PDP) finally screened Sylva out of the primaries of the party.
The sad news of Sylva not contesting the PDP primaries to select who represents the party was aired in all media as at Monday November 14, 2011, thus putting the fears of many Bayelsans to rest.
The party bearer will be decided in the primary polls come November 19, 2011. Dickson Henry of the House of Representatives looks favoured to occupy the Creek Haven. Already supporters of those cleared to contest the forthcoming primary polls are in high spirit as each and sundry give their last minute’s support to their candidates to scale through the hurdle of representing the party at the final election to decide who takes over from Sylva.
There are also strong fears that blood may flow as the youths in Sylva camp are allegedly prepared to do anything to see that Sylva comes back to Creek Haven.
Timi Alaibi and others considered to be strong contenders of the guber race have all fallen by the roadside to clear the race for the seven cleared candidates out of eleven that picked the intent form. ####
