PH Polo Club Ends Fund Rising Dinner Night Successfully

The Port Harcourt polo club on 26th of November, 2011, being Saturday ends it gala night and fund raising dinner successfully. The occasion attracted who is who in the social and political circle.
The club embarked on the fund rising dinner gala night to raise fund to prosecute the forth coming 2012 Niger Delta international polo tournament, to be host by the club in Port Harcourt at the club polo pitch.
The club also ends the night with awards, giving to deserving sons and daughters of Nigerian origin, who had distinguished themselves in human capacity development in one way or the other.
The president of the club, Sofiri C. Bob Manuel in his opening address said “Port Harcourt polo club has come along way. It gives me great pleasure, we were just elected 3o days ago and I have sat with my exco to take the club to a greater height. We intend building an international stable for the club. This is owing to the fact that I lost three of my horses in one day. It is sad. He also said the club lost 150 horses in just one day.
The Port Harcourt Polo club is one of the most recognized polo club in the country and the world.
The Niger Delta Polo tournament has be slated to commence on the 7th of January to 14th of January 2012. Already Ghana and South Africa had indicated their interest to be part of the tournament.
Donations were made by personalities to raised the fund to build stables pavilions and other parts of the club. The club is on a serious derive to embark on various projects, as to completely charge the look of Port Harcourt polo club.
Prince Tonye Prince and Sir Victor Fengesy top highest donors,, a former president of the club offered to sponsor a South Africa national polo team coach down to Port Harcourt to train the players polo, so as to play the game much more better on the Rivers State Government was awarded with the award of “enduring support to sports and the club alongside with others.
Mrs. Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam chaired the occasion, while the commissioner for social welfare and rehabilitation Hon. Joe Philip Poroma, represents the state governor. Peter Isele, Hon Okagan and chieftaincy affairs and other dignitaries made the occasion thick.
Chairperson of the occasion, Dame Aleruchi Cookey-Gam, in her speech applauded the new president for bringing back the club to life. While Hon Joe Philip Poroma in his address said for the club to move on the president must forget the past and carry everybody along in his scheme of developmental plan for the club.
Stating that Port Harcourt polo club has become a second home of polo lovers. Urging president Sofiri C. BobManuel to build a new home.
The day ends with Prince Tonye Prince and Sir. Victor Fengesy becoming the highest donor. ###
