Soccer Stakeholders Cry Out For Equipment Managers

Football stakeholders of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, have cried out, saying that Sharks and liberation stadium need equipment manager.
The seasoned soccer stakeholders decried the situation where stadium equipment managers are not employed to manage the equipment at the various stadia owned by Rivers state government.
According to some of the serving coaches of one of the state sponsored teams who spoke to our sports editor, the players are being affected by the equipment because of lack of management.
The respected coach who will not want his name under print, disclosed that in Europe, each stadium has equipment manager and at the end of each training section, the equipment manager will as a matter of policy instruct the incoming team who will make use of the pitch, to rest for at least a period either two to three hours before making use of the pitch.
He stressed that this is obtainable in the European countries, hence each player flows with the pitch in which they play regularly to be at home to produce quality result without stress.
The widely travelled coach in his playing days, stated that one of the teams which he coached, was seriously affected as the players complained of their knees often, pinpointing that defenders and strikers have the different boots according to the department the players play. Midfielders have their specific type of boots not like every player as is done in Nigeria.
He stated that sports is an industry that all and sundry will put hand to make things happen, but today, that collective dream has been challenged particularly in Nigeria. ###
