ETCHE LGA: Barr. Ukwuoma Calls For Support To Build 900m Market Project

The Executive Chairman of Etche LGA of Rivers State, Hon Barr. Reginald Ukwuoma, has called on the Federal and State Governments to come to the aid of the Council to actualize a state of the art ultra-modern International Market, embarked-upon by his administration.
Ukwuoma, made this call shortly after the end of a Town Hall Meeting that was held at the Council’s Secretariat, Okehi. In a chat with newsmen. Presenting his speech at the event, Barr. Ukwuoma enumerated his achievements within the short period of time, before the state governor, Rt. Hon. Chibuike Rotimi Amaechi and the people of Etche LGA.
Hon. Reginald used the occasion of the Town Hall Meeting to call on Governor Amaechi to consider the Sons and Daughters of Etche LGA into board of Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, the recognition of Eze Onyeisi Agwuru, completion of Etche Rumukwurusi Road and the creation of another LGA out of Etche LGA, amongst others.
Speaking further, he noted that the 13th November, 2012 Town Hall Meeting was a unique one, for the fact that it was a program set-up by the governor, to have the opportunity of interacting with the people face to face. Appreciating Amaechi, in developing Etche, and also call on him to help in completing some of the on-going projects in the LGA.
In the same vein, Barr. Ukwuoma pointed out that Etche has contributed enormously in the state, in the area of Oil Production, and thanked governor for responding to some of the needs of the people and the citing of Civil Servants Training and Re-training Centre in Etche.
He gave 75% to Governor Amaechi for what he has done in Etche, disclosing that the Council has a staff strength of 674 with 19 wards and a total of N103 Million Naira Salary per month. He rated their Internally Generated Revenue IGR as second to none, adding that they are only managing with the income from the Federal Account.
The Etche Council’s Boss, who acknowledged fund as one of his greatest challenges, as occasioned by the general economic recession, called on the state and Federal Governments to support him, to deliver the much needed dividends of democracy to the people of Etche LGA. He used the medium to urge journalists to continue in balancing their stories and never be deterred by the attitude of some persons who relegate them to the background after actualizing their aims and objectives, adding that- no activist would make any head-way without carrying the media along.
While the State Governor, Rt. Hon. Rotimi Chibuike Amaechi, after presenting his Score Card before the people of Etche LGA, promised to complete the Igbo-Etche Road, amongst others before the end of his administration.
Some of the dignitaries that spoke with the Newswriter include: Eze Josiah Nwagwu JP, Ochimba Etche, Chief Michael Nweke Chimereze 1 of Akw-Obuor, Mr. Kingsley Agbam, Leader, Igboo Clan Movement, amongst others. They all commended the State Governor, the Council Chairman and called for the recognition of Eze Onyeisi Agwuru.
