Imo State: Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council Inaugurates New Exco…As Danby Promises To Develop Imo Palm

The Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council, Landlord to Imo Palm Plantation, formerly known as Adapalm Nig. Ltd, Ohaji, Imo State, has inaugurated its newly elected 12 executive members on the 14th of January, 2013, to pioneer the affairs of the Council in the next three years.
Presenting his remarks at the residence of Board of Trustee (BOT) Chairman, Hon. Vitalis Jakponna, venue of the swearing-in ceremony, Barr. Chuks Otikpo, chairman of the occasion and member of BOT, commended the BOT and Electoral Committee, for a free and fair election.
Otikpo added that Hon. Jakponna is over qualified to be the BOT chairman, and described comrade Uche Ogbonna as a good servant that never went contrary to the constitution of the council, applauding him for a job well done and for the smooth hand over as the immediate past president of the council.
Making his contribution, the immediate past president of the council, Comr. Uche Ogbonna, described his administration as the first without crisis, having won his election with 42 out of 45 votes in the last 3 years. Uche disclosed that his love and loyalty to the council made him to dodge the letter that was to be served him for the stoppage of the inauguration and urged Mr. Thomas Ekeh, the new president, to carry everyone along.
The BOT Chairman, Hon. Jakponna, and the first president of Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council, expressed his gratitude, having fulfilled his promise of ensuring a hitch free election. He added that the council was over 12 years, on the 14th of January, 2013 with the mandate of carrying everybody along, pointing out that all the positions were keenly contested for and winners emerged.
Jakponna described the 12th January, 2013 council election as “no victor no vanquished” and thereby declared the inauguration/swearing-in ceremony open.
Certificates were presented to the executive members by the ELECO chairman, Mr. Bruno Ogbonna on behalf of other ELECO members, which include: Mr. Kenneth Ihekuna and Udensi Alamezie, while the oath of office/allegiance was administered to the elected officers by Barr. Temple Okonji, BOT member, who saw his duty at the occasion as a privilege to administer oaths, to elected members of the council.
In his acceptance speech, Mr. Thomas Ekeh (Tommy), the new president of Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council, thanked the BOT members, ELECO, delegates and his fellow executives for the opportunity to serve, assuring to carry everyone along.
In the same vein, the elected members were formally presented to the Managing Director of Imo Palm Plantation, Mr. Neil Danby in his office for proper recognition. The BOT chairman, Hon. Jakponna, Barr. Chuks, Barr. Okonji, Comr. Uche and Mr. Tommy, urged Mr. Neil to ensure a good working relationship with the new president and the council at large.
Responding to some of the demands by council members, Mr. Neil Danby, explained that the management was moving gradually, with a view to working with people from the Land Lord zones, adding that they have so many programs for the youths. He observed that there used to be problem when things were done without the consent of the people.
Neil lamented that there wouldn’t have been anything like Imo Palm, (former Adapalm), if the plantation had been kept fallow in the last 3-5 years. He assured that they have come to develop Imo Palm Plantation, for the children of the youth members, promising to carry-out their Corporate Social Responsibilities to the catchment areas of the establishment.
While Mr. Joseph Ohiri, the campaign coordinator to Mr. Thomas Ekeh (Tommy), commended the outcome of the election that brought his candidate to office, applauded the doggedness of Mr. Ejike Esimkonye and his acceptance to work with the president, Mr. Ekeh, by bringing his wealth of experience to bear, in the business of the council. He further urged Mr. Tommy to ensure that the pensions and gratuities of the aged parents that have worked for Imo Palm Plantation are adequately taken care of.
Mr. Ohiri, however used the medium to call on all and sundry and the media to join hands with the council president, to move Ohaji/Egbema/Agwa Youth Council, to the next level.
